The PIMA are going to be bigger & better in 2019.
The Perfection in Miniature Awards began back in 2015 as a competition for exhibitors at all London Dollshouse Festival Shows to create something really special to be included in the PIMA display at the Kensington Dollshouse Festival in May. After taking a year off in 2018, they will return in 2019 with some new elements to make them even more special.
Each year we have been thrilled by the standard of work entered & the creativity & imagination of the entries.
Changes to the PIMA in 2019.
There are 3 changes to the competition this year.
PIMA Open Competition.
One of our aims is to create awareness for this incredible art form & find a new generation of makers for the future. With this in mind, we are creating the PIMA Open Competition. Anyone who has not exhibited at an LDF show in the last 5 years will be eligible to enter. Each year we will focus on 1 particular area of expertise which will be NEEDLEWORK for 2019. This will include all kinds of disiplines including embroidery, cross-stitch, lacemaking, knitting, crochet, patchwork, etc etc.
The prize will be a table at the Summer 2020 show + expenses & other bonuses. Judging for this part of the PIMA will take place during the Summer, after the May Show. Closing date for entries will be May 31st 2019. Entries can either be dropped off at the Summer Show, or posted to the LDF offices. Winners will be announced at the Christmas Show.

Other changes to the PIMA Closed Competition (LDF Exhibitors only) are:
The Excellence Award will be presented to entries who the judges feel have really pushed themselves to create something new & breath-taking. (it could be more than one entry, or it could be none), It will be an additional prize on top of our usual prizes. (The prizes will be as previous years, 1st place £3000, 2nd place £1000, 3rd place £500). This award will not necessarily be presented every year, only when the judges feel really exceptional work has been entered.
Peoples Choice Award.
In previous years, visitors to the show have always asked if they can choose their favourite entry. This year they can. The Peoples Choice Award will be voted for throughout the Summer Show & the winner announced at the end of the Festival. The prize will be a £250.
The whole team behind the PIMA really want to make them an incredible event, celebrating our tiny world, so whether you have entered before or not have a think about what you could create for this great event.
Finally, here are the words of Ellie de Lacy on the PIMA 2017, which sums up what they are about so well.
For me, personally, I was absolutely thrilled to participate in PIMA and have my work on show alongside artisans who are some of the best in the world. So many people, traders and visitors, came to acknowledge my entry. It was a real buzz. PIMA encourage artisans to put forward their best work, it's a great discipline.
