English cottage yard (2 day course - May 10-11 - £210)

1/48 scale

Spend two days painting and texturing card, using paper mache & finishing with a painted plexiglass background that lends depth and space as it catches ambient light. You will make this traditional rural scene with a timber frame thatched cottage, stone barn and hay cart learning new techniques along the way.

Box for transportation of the finished model supplied

Please bring;

Craft knife and blades, no 3 watercolour brush with a good tip, Wash brush, Pencil, Small cutting mat.

Fairies (1 day - May 14 - £105)

In this class you will make three delicate etched nickel silver fairies using your own choice of wing, colours, design and final decoration.

Box for transportation when finished supplied

Please bring;

No 0 and 3 watercolour brushes with good tips, craft knife, scissors, small cutting mat.

The Complete Millinery Workshop (2 day - May 10-11 - £210)

In this class youll learn to create well-fitted millinery in almost any style and period. Starting with the basic wide brimmed hat and learn to adapt the pattern in other styles from the classic boater to the exotic Ascot hat, trimmed to perfection. Also create crowns and brims from moulds provided for the students to take home with them. Once learned, its up to each student to have an adventure in the art of millinery from classic hats to fantasy for both men and women, with instructions on feather and silk ribbon work.

All fabrics, moulds, trims and patterns will be provided but students are asked to bring two pairs of small sharp scissors for fabric and paper.

The Mens Tailoring Workshop (1 day - May 14 - £105)

No longer any bulky necks, lop sided shoulders or badly fitted sleeves. This class will teach the students to sew a perfectly fitted jacket that sits comfortably on pretty much any male doll, plus instructions on how to alter the pattern to produce any period jacket or coat.

Even the most amateur sewer will be able to get a crisp finish using the correct fabric, pattern and notions provided by Jamie. Please bring two pairs of small sharp scissors for fabric and paper and, if needed, magnifiers.

To finish, on the stand provided, well create a shirt, tie & waistcoat. Also, full instructions & pattern will be provided for the trousers.

George I Banded Walnut Chest C1725 (2 day - May 10-11 - £230)

A fine example of early Georgian period furniture, this dressing chest with a brushing slide and four graduated burr veneered drawers has both crossbanding & featherbanding.

From a prepared cutting list of timber & veneer, each person would construct the cabinet, assemble, veneer & crossband the drawers & slide. The top will be burr veneered & featherbanded. Bracket feet will be cut, mitred & attached at the base. The brass handles & keyplates will be fitted after a finish is applied to the completed chest.

Completion is likely in the allocated time however full detailed instructions accompany the class.

A reasonable ability would be an advantage.

All basic tools and materials will be provided but please feel free to bring along your own small tools, work light or optical equipment if preferred.

Louis XV Style Gueridon (1 day - May 14 - £110)

This small elegant example of Louis XV style standing 60mm high x 30mm wide would look equally comfortable nestled amongst chairs or sofas in many room settings, or as a stand alone piece.

Starting with a prepared cutting list of wood, veneer and brass hardware students will mark and shape the legs/rails; cut and shape the top and (optional) lower tier, applying a brass edge banding to the burr veneered shaped top. A finish will be applied & brass mounts fitted.

All basic tools will be provided, however please feel free to bring small hand tools and any optical equipment you may require. Completion is likely in class however a detailed booklet is provided should you prefer to finish at home.

A reasonable ability would be an advantage.
